RDS & Aurora Restore options

There are 3 options

(1) Restoring RDS / Aurora backup or a snapshot creates a new database. (Lecture more in Backup part)

(2) Restoring MySQL RDS database from S3 (On-premise)

• create a backup of your on-premise DB

• store it on S3

• restore backup from the file onto a new RDS instance

(3) Restoring MySQL Aurora database from S3 (On-premise)

• create a backup of your on-premise DB using Percona XtraBackup

• store it on S3

• restore backup from the file onto a new Aurora instance
